by admin on November 4, 2009

search-engine-ranking-and placement-tips The phrase "content is king" was coined a number of years ago and when it comes to improving search engine ranking there is no other way improve it without having good quality, original content on your site.

Search engines are also becoming allot smarter at detecting what type of content and how useful it is to your readers by analyzing the average times people spend on your site. Having topical, relevant and useful original content reaps tremendous rewards for your business,  but most important gives it the authority and sustainability it needs to attract a good audience.

One of things to start with is having the right keywords. We all know having the right keywords is essential if you want to attract a specific types of customer. You also need to have well written content or at least highly competitive content especially with today’s audience and the amount of competition vying for that top spot in the search engines. It is recommended to write about 250-350 words of copy for each keyword you are aiming for and plant it on your website every day or every other day. There is no substitute for this, the search engines will reward if you do this consistently.

Grow, grow, and grow should be be rule for your online business by adding fresh relevant content which is key to getting the best search engine ranking. Most times you can focus on between 3-5 like keywords per page to improve your productivity and you will also start to rank for other terms that the search engines deem relevant to your content, which is always puts a smile on my face when I see that happening. Make your website and content as natural and feasible and the Search Engines will reward you with first-page ranking.

Ensure that all of the pages of the site have custom titles and outlines so as to be easily understood and indexed by the major search engines. You want to make it as easy as possible to get and improve your search engine ranking. If your website is using the same tags for all of the pages, then it makes it hard for the search engines to know what the topic or significance of your individual pages. As a general rule– the Title Tag is the most significant SEO tag for any web site.

Google allows up to 60 characters in the title, Yahoo is even better by allowing up to 110 characters in the title, so take advantage of this and make your title as descriptive as possible.

It’s very important to put the most important keywords in your title and each page should have a singular title. META Outline Tag is also something to pay attention to for each page on the website. All these SEO type thing help keep and improve your search engine ranking as more content is added and your site grows and becomes more favorable in the search engine. A few search engines actually look at the description included for each page, while others don’t, so it best to optimize them as well, since search engines do change their algorithm from time to time. All search engines do read the description tag and use it in their ranking process. A good rule is to make outlines no more than 200-250 characters. The META keyword Tag is largely worthless in today’s SEO market, but is often good to utilize as a placeholder for the keywords focused. Structure the navigation and URL of your site easy enough for search engines to follow.

Keep in mind that search engines find is difficult to parse your navigation you have flash or javascript on your site. If you have a standard static php site, try and stay close to standard HTML when it comes to Navigation. Design your site map that tells folks where everything is on your internet site or if you are utilizing a wordpress blog, there are plenty of plugins to do that automatically for you. A good sitemap is key since if makes it easy for the search engines to find your content. Most time on average you will get about 1% click thru rate to your internet site map.

These are the some of the basic and most fundamental things you can do to improve your search engine rankings. I always recommend to keep your site as simple, easy on the eye, and most important easy to navigate for humans and the search engines spiders.

With all the clutter online these days, and push by the public and search to clean up the internet, it is beneficial for the long term of your business to keep your site well optimized and keeps in favor, not only for your visitors but the search engines as well.
